Episode 3 - BJ Kyle - From Small Town to Nashville, Grand Ole Opry, Mark Wills fanboy, Colt Ford the Golf Pro

Episode 3 - BJ Kyle - From Small Town to Nashville, Grand Ole Opry, Mark Wills fanboy, Colt Ford the Golf Pro
October 17, 2016
In this episode, our special guest is our very own, BJ Kyle, from McNeil, AR. Population, 499. It's just Alan and BJ hosting. Jordan was in uniform when he showed up at the house. He warned that he may get called out. Sure enough, he got called out to a "no holds barred brawl in downtown Magnolia! Just kidding, nothing like that happens here. And, Jeffrey...well, he had to watch the kids while Amanda got her hair did. So...

In their relaxing, almost syrupy, manner, BJ and Alan cover his "small town" start in music to his big city debut on the Grand Ole Opry. He reveals the little know fact that Colt Ford is a college-educated PGA Golf Instructor. Alan reveals his uncomfortable passion for Mark Wills music (Alan: "But, he is The Man!"). And, a whole lot of other stuff. By the way, Mark did our intro for this episode even though we said Colt would. Colt, will be next time...if we edit right.

Episode 2 - Bob Smiley - Small Town Roots, Geriatric Heckling, Greatest Snapchat Name Ever

Episode 2 - Bob Smiley - Small Town Roots, Geriatric Heckling, Greatest Snapchat Name Ever
October 14, 2016
Comedian Bob Smiley joins Alan on our Small Town Famousâ„¢ podcast via phone from the tour bus of his good friend, comedian Tim Hawkins. And believe me, you can tell he's on a bus! (That's just the way Bob pun intended). He was heading back home after a week of performances. Bob and Alan cover many subjects, such as Bob's hometown (he grew up in Era, TX, population 298), how he got his big break, being sweetly heckled in a nursing home, turning personal trials into triumph after his recent divorce. He uses his comedy as a platform to share the Gospel with thousands of people every year. Again, pardon the audio...he IS on a tour bus! Not bad, Mr. Smiley. Not bad at all.

Episode 1 - Glen "The Real Deal" Knight, missionary - The Philippines, The "New Somalia", Angel In The Blue Shirt

Episode 1 - Glen
October 5, 2016
Alan and Jordan spend a few minutes with Glen Knight, a missionary to the Philippines. He was in town and graciously took time to stop by the house, have some pie, and talk about his journeys. He grew up in South Arkansas, but eventually found himself living on a boat (that he designed and built), along with his family. Constantly moving, for various reasons, not the least of which is the dangers of piracy that have overtaken that areas, sailing the waters surrounding the Philippines. The area he ministers to has recently been dubbed "The New Somalia". He's joined by his step-son, Justin, who "aint from around here." (He's from South Africa). Glen tells us some stories that you will find fascinating.

Episode 0 - What Is Small Town Famous About?
September 16, 2016
In this episode, Alan, BJ, and Jordan discuss why we started the podcast. We get to hear some cool teasers about our first official guest, co-host BJ, who just got off the road touring with Country music star, Craig Morgan. And, we discuss what our goals are for our show: to connect with everyone who can relate to small town life.

We are joined by our first "guest co-host", Jeffrey, who is the stereotypical Small Town citizen. An Arkansas Razorback cheer'n, Pharisee-judge'n, hard work' buddy of ours.

Welcome to Small Town Famous

Fame is relative. It can be legitimate or undeserved. It can endure or be a "flash in the pan". Likewise, what defines a small town is subjective. What is "small town" to some may be "big city" to others. Our podcast is dedicated to stories or personalities that have their roots in a small town.

Even in a small town or rural setting, we are surrounded by fascinating people who have incredible or intriguing stories. Because of the enormity of this subject matter, we had to narrow our threshold of what defines a "small town" to a population of under 50,000.

Our goal is to entertain you with people who actually are famous, as we define "fame" today. Yet, they continue to reside in a small town. Perhaps you will have heard of them. If not, you will know them by the end of the show. Also, we will uncover folks who are not famous or even well-known in their towns. Yet, they are tied to an event or have a story that, if brought to light, would be deserving of fame. We will also discuss those who are in the shadow of fame while residing in Small Town, USA. Perhaps, they have a world famous relative and know the real celebrity when the spotlight is removed. Finally, we hope to bring you interviews of those who have achieved fame but acknowledge that their roots are deeply embedded in the "small town philosophy". And, of course, we can't forget those who may be infamous in our little towns. They're story should be told.

We hope to make you laugh, cry, get angry or possibly plain 'ole enamored by real people with interesting lives. In the end, we plan to figure out who is or should be Small Town Famous™. So...

"Are You Small Town Famous?™"
